Hazaaron khwahishen aisi ke har khwahish pe dam nikle, Bahut niklay mere armaan, lekin phir bhi kam nikle.
हिंदी भावार्थ
यह शेर मानवीय इच्छाओं की अनंत और असीम प्रकृति को दर्शाता है। मिर्ज़ा ग़ालिब कहते हैं कि उनकी हज़ारों ख्वाहिशें ऐसी हैं कि हर एक की शिद्दत पर जान निकल जाए। यद्यपि उनके जीवन में कई इच्छाएं पूरी हुईं, फिर भी अतृप्त मन को वे हमेशा कम ही लगीं, क्योंकि इंसानी चाहत का कोई अंत नहीं है।
English Translation
This couplet reflects the infinite and insatiable nature of human desires. Mirza Ghalib expresses that he has thousands of desires, each so intense that one could die for it. Although many of his wishes were fulfilled, they still seemed too few, as human longing is endless and can never be fully satisfied.
